Despite Social Distancing Kindness Is Still Spreading

I was driving back from my regular Target run when a guy in the car beside me at the red light intently tried to get my attention. He said my lights weren’t on -smiling-, I smiled back immediately with a thumbs up and put my headlights on.

It was right before sunset when I got to the store and it was already dark by the time I got into the car and I didn’t have my headlights on auto setting either. I would have driven all the way home without even noticing with tons of checklists on my head spinning.

After putting the kids to bed, I put on my favorite cozy Peshtemal Robe, got my tea and had my usual spot on the couch with my hubby.

Started thinking, what was the guy’s gain from warning me at the red light? Nothing but to help someone of course. He could have yelled at me because it is essentially dangerous to drive like that but he CHOSE to be kind. Same with the woman at the furniture store when she came and handed me my 4 year old daughter’s favorite cardigan that she just took off and left somewhere at the store.

Don’t get me wrong it’s not that I am so careless all the time and I rely on other people’s kindness. It is that despite everything we are all going through in 2020; people did not distance themselves from being helpful, kind and thoughtful. In fact we all go out of our way to keep our spirits up. And that- gives me hope.

Let’s CHOOSE to be kind when opportunity arrives as being nice is always a choice and nothing but a good thing comes to us after.

Happy Holidays and Cheers to #kindness+social distancing
